I was already having positive view about the movie as it is directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, ( who had directed Lagaan, Swadesh ) but but we were dissapointed a lot as the film couldn't hold us in the grip from the beginning onwards. Most of the scenes & songs have been unnecessary put up just to stretch the show time which was not et all required for a story like this. Best part of the movie is the work done by Priyanka Chopra (PC), she represented 12 diffrent characters in the movie and done a really fabulous job for each character. Songs of the movie are more or less good and are of worth eonugh to give a chance in your playlist.
For those who don't have any idea about astrology ( like me) the movie acts as an add in to your knowledge about the subject as each character played by PC depicts the personality of people of that particular rashee. So you may have an idea about the rashee of people without asking for the same but you have to invest your precious 4 hours and 250 bucks for this, so in the end choice is yours.
My intention of catching the movie was to see PC & her portrayal of 12 different avatars-a feat that permanently etched her name in the annals of Guiness Book of Records.Though the story was interesting it couldnt hold me in the grip. Throughout the 3 hrs i was cringing in frustration in the "ebony " seat as the story line was frequently being punctuated by thoughtless inclusion of songs. Some of the songs like "bhikhri hui","jaao naa" ,"whats ur rashee" long lingered on in my memory. The so-called comedy scenes were not laughter inducing. After having put up with this, I was atleast expecting a tantalising finale. After having gone through the 12 characters played by PC,I was expecting a vikram-vetaal kinda question answer dilemma as to which bride is chosen .But the climax proved to be a disaster as the HB couldnt express his decision intelligently. The decision was as if forced upon him . At the end I really felt cheated for having expected the ace director to have come up with a intriguing end.Loss of time & money -booh booh boohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
ReplyDeleteBut PC was fabulous .She looked ravishing & radiant in each of the character. She played the part of Anjali & Shankara to the perfection. Her captivating simple saree look of Hansa & the salwar look of the doctor stole my breath .Her breathless babbling of 20-25 Chicago must-see places was entertaining too.HB's acting was repressed at times & his " main bhi mard hoon " dialogue was squeamish .He seriously needs to brush up his acting skills too. All in all , the cynosure of all eyes in the movies would be PC & her acting skills & not the unintelligible ending by Ashutosh.
